uh… what?
I’ve been trying to put a renewed vigor into my spiritual life lately, and that has meant that I’m reading the Bible a lot more (something which I’m quite stoked about). So I’m reading through the Gospel of Luke and today I was in chapter 5.
Jesus was preaching and he sees these dudes fishing and says “hey, why don’t you put your nets in on the other side.” These guys have been fishing all night and haven’t caught anything. And one guy named Peter says as much, but says since Jesus told them to do it, they’d indulge him.
So they do it.
And immediately they have more fish than they know what to do with and they’re bringing in these fish and then Peter realizes that there’s something legit about Jesus and decides to follow him.
What a strange story.
But maybe it isn’t that strange… how many times do I feel like God is telling me to do something that doesn’t make sense and I talk myself into not doing it because it doesn’t make sense.
I wonder if I’d be surprised by things that would happen if I’d trust those inklings and moments where it seems like God might be prompting me to do the strangest things…
God, help me to not be wary to do what you want, even when it doesn’t make sense.
